Bhubaneswar: The fifth edition of five-day-long National Theatre Festival organised by Bidyakanak Srujananusthana, a Bhubaneswar based organisation, is all set to start at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar from May 21.
For the theatre lovers, the festival is bringing three Hindi plays and one Bengali and one Odia play.
The inaugural play is an Odia play to be staged by the host institution Bidyakanak Srujananusthana. The play is ‘Ei Bodhe Prema’, written by Dillip Balabantaray, music by Manas Kumar Parida, light design by Sanjay Kumar Pradhan and directed by Jagadish Prasad Maharana.
On the second evening, Hindi play ‘Bhoomi’ will be staged by Sangam Rangmandal, a Jabalpur based theatre group. While the play is written by Ashish Pathak, it is directed by Swati Dubey. Music and light design by Ashish Pathak and Swati Dubey & Ashish Pathak respectively.
Hindi play ‘A Boring Story’ will be staged by Seagull Theatre, a Guwahati based theatre group on the third evening. The play is written by Anton Chekov, music by Pran Shoolin, light design by Vikash Mochhahari and directed by Baharul Islam.
On the fourth evening, a Hindi play ‘Andho Ka Hati’ will be staged by Nirman Kalamanch, one of the premier theatre organisations in Bihar. The play is written by Sharod Joshi, music, concept, design and directed by Sanjay Upadhyay and light design by Rahul Kumar Ravi.
On the concluding evening, Bengali play ‘Kunjor Bhut’ willl be staged by a Kolkata based theatre group Nahalee. Original story by Upendrakishore Roychowdhury, playwright by Sanjay Chattopadhyay, music by Uday Chand Haldar and team, light design by Sujit Das and directed by Saibal Das.
