Bhubaneswar: Nrutyayana 2025, organized by Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay in association with the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Government of Odisha, was held at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar, on Monday.
Nrutyayana is a monthly cultural program organised with the main objective of bringing the artistic side of the students studying in various Departments of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay.
The auditorium came alive with scintillating dance performances presented by the students of Odissi and Chhau departments of the institution.
The evening opened with a group Odissi recital by the students of the Odissi dance department. They presented ‘Jagannath Ashtakam’, evoking the spirit of Lord Jagannath. They followed it up with ‘Bhabhranga’ and ‘Sri Hari Gunakeertanam’, whose dance choreographed by Guru Lingaraj Pradhan and Guru Pankaj Kumar Pradhan. The dancers were Jahnavi, Samparna, Sanjana, Satya Prakash, Priyanka, Karishma, Baisakhi, Smritimayi, Pragyaparamita, Ananya, Sangita, Satyabhama, Ankita, Subhashri, Lalita and Sonam.
Next, the art lovers were treated to mesmerizing solo, duet and group Chhau dance performances. The first item was ‘Jambuban’ presented by Krushna Mohanta followed by ‘Ranga Panda’ presented by Sumitra Bindhani and Subhadra Bindhani and ‘Nava Rasika’ presented by Binodini, Mili, Subhasmita and Bhagyashree. All the dance items were choreographed by Guru Dr. Ramani Ranjan Jena.
The guests of the evening were the eminent Odissi Dance Exponent and Dean Sri Sri University and Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra, Secretary, Chinta O Chetana Surendra Das, eminent Odissi dance exponent and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Guru Bichitra Nanda Swain and Principal of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay Dr. Bijay Kumar Jena. The program was anchored by Dr. Srinivas Ghatuari and was coordinated by Dr. Bijay Kumar Jena, Principal of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay, along with the entire faculty, students and staff.
