Bhubaneswar: The 10th edition of the Film Preservation and Restoration Workshop India (FPRWI 2025), hosted by the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF), will be held at Kalabhoomi Odisha Crafts Museum in Bhubaneswar from November 12 to 19, informed FHF’s director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur at a press conference held at Press Club, Bhubaneswar, on Monday.

“Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and legendary actress Waheeda Rehman will grace the opening ceremony of the weeklong workshop as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. And Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo will attend the closing certification ceremony as the chief guest. In a special gesture, the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) will felicitate film scholar Sanjoy Patnaik and Surya Deo, founder secretary of the Film Journalists’ Forum, with the ‘Champions of Film Heritage Award’ for their outstanding contribution to preserving India’s cinematic legacy,” informed Dungarpur.
It was also informed that the FHF will conduct the workshop in association with the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) and supported by partners including the Handlooms, Textiles and handicrafts Department and the Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, Abode Inc., The Film Federation’s World Cinema Project, TATA Trusts, Instituto Italiano di Cultura New Delhi, Kodak and Rasa Jaipur.
The eight-day workshop will cover both theory and small group practical sessions in the best practices of the preservation and restoration of celluloid and digital films and film-related materials and will bring together experts and participants from across the globe.
As a cinematic treat, the restored classic ‘Maya Miriga’ (1984) by Nirad Mohapatra, restored by the Film Heritage Foundation, will be screened at Keshari Talkies on November 13, 14 and 17 at 6.30pm and the screenings are free and open to public. Adding to the showcase, ‘Kanakalata’ (1974), restored by NFDC-National Film Archive of India, will also light up the same venue on November 16 at 6.30pm.
