Bhubaneswar: The eleventh episode of Mayurbhanj Utsav, organised by Mayurbhanj Cultural Council, Bhubaneswar, concluded in a magnificent and celebratory atmosphere at Utkal Mandap here on Sunday.
The valedictory evening was inaugurated by MLA and superstar of the Odia film industry, Siddhanta Mahapatra. He was joined on the dais by General Secretary Dr. Rajanikanta Biswal, Editor Chinmaya Das Pattnaik, and Editor Swaroop Ranjan Das. Following the chief guest’s address, a vibrant cultural extravaganza marked the beginning of the evening’s performances.
The program commenced with the audio-visual presentation of the Mayurbhanj Cultural Council’s theme song, directed by renowned Odia film director Tapas Sagharia and his team.

This was followed by captivating traditional tribal dance performances, including ‘Bharang Dance’ by the artistes of Mayurbhanjia Adima Adivasi Sangha and ‘Ho Dance’ by the artistes of Maa Sunamuin Ho Dance Organisation.
The world-famous ‘Chhau Dance’, performed by the artistes of Chhau Dance Institution of Nichuapada, mesmerized the audience, while the energetic Jhumar dance and songs presented by the Bindu Jhumar Group of Baripada left spectators spellbound. Performances by Anubala Mahanti Group, Suryasnata Pani Group, Abhiram Abhinaya Anusthan, and Orphan Bees Group showcased enthralling modern dance fusions of Ollywood and Bollywood, providing vibrant entertainment.
Renowned playback singer Debashish Mahapatra’s soulful singing further captivated the audience.One of the major highlights of the evening was the presence of popular cine star Swaraj Barik, whose special dance performance drew loud applause.
The event was further graced by the presence of senior actress Aparajita Mohanty and her son and Ollywood superstar Babushaan Mohanty. The Ladies Group Ramp Show by the Mayurbhanj Cultural Council emerged as another major attraction, delighting the audience. Adding to the festive spirit were the performances of Papu Pom Pom, Hansraj Das and Sagar Lenka.
The exquisite handicraft items along with traditional Mayurbhanj delicacies such as the famous ‘Mudhi Mansa’ (Puffed Rice and Mutton Curry), ‘Dala Khecudi’, ‘Bara Tarakari’, ‘Arisa Pitha’ and many more, which were thoroughly enjoyed by visitors.
The third and concluding evening was coordinated by the council’s secretary and noted Odia film writer-director Chinmaya Das Pattnaik, while the stage was gracefully hosted by renowned Odia actor Sukanta Rath.
Highlighting the inclusive nature of the festival, the council’s secretary and eminent entrepreneur Swaroop Ranjan Das stated that entry to the three-day historic festival was completely free for all while general secretary Dr Rajanikanta Biswal delivered the vote of thanks, marking a memorable conclusion to the grand celebration.
