Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s leading OTT platform, Kanccha Lannka has lifted the curtain on the first-look poster of its most ambitious original web series, ‘Shree Jagannath’ marking a significant milestone for the Odia entertainment industry.

The mega series, slated to premiere simultaneously in Odia and Hindi, is being positioned as a grand tribute to Lord Jagannath and the makers hope to take the timeless glory of Lord Jagannath and the pilgrim city Puri to millions of devotees across the globe. The multi-season epic aims to bring alive the spiritual grandeur of Lord Jagannath and the sacred city of Puri, one of Hinduism’s four revered Char Dham pilgrimage sites, on an unprecedented scale.

The inaugural season comprising 20 episodes traces the roots of the Jagannath tradition. It begins with the secret worship of Lord Neelamadhab by Sabar King Biswabasu in the Nilagiri caves and follows the journey leading to King Indradyumna’s construction of the Jagannath Temple and the consecration of the divine sibling deities. The first season is scheduled to begin streaming in October, while subsequent seasons will explore the temple’s history and legacy in greater depth.

A key highlight of the project is its use of technology. According to the makers, ‘Shree Jagannath’ is the first full-length web series in the Odia entertainment industry to be produced extensively using Artificial Intelligence (AI). It will also be the first production of Kanccha Lannka to launch simultaneously in Odia and Hindi, with plans to release the series in several other languages in the future.

Speaking on the occasion, Kanccha Lannka chairman Akshay Parija said, “‘Shree Jagannath’ is not just a web series for us; it is a heartfelt offering. Our aim is to present the glory of Mahaprabhu Jagannath and the timeless human values associated with Him through advanced technology while preserving authenticity, sensitivity and grandeur. We are confident this sacred story will resonate with audiences not only in Odisha but across India and beyond.”

Kanccha Lannka has established itself as one of Odisha’s leading OTT platforms for original regional content.
