Bhubaneswar: ‘Ye To Trailer Hai, Picture Abhi Baaki Hai’. That familiar Bollywood quip seems to be doing the rounds among Odia movie lovers after the trailer of the upcoming horror film ‘Dahaan – The Evil Within’ hit the internet.

The 2.50-minute trailer, released Thursday midnight, crossed 1.1 lakh views within 24 hours, signalling the buzz surrounding the film.

After watching the trailer, this reviewer is also confident that ‘Dahaan’ appears poised to offer horror aficionados a paisa-vasool experience, packed with suspense, supernatural elements and plenty of chills.

Produced under the banner of Amiya Pattnaik Productions, the film marks the production house’s latest cinematic venture ventures into a genre that has had relatively little representation in Odia cinema.

Built entirely around the horror genre, ‘Dahaan’ promises to take audiences on a terrifying ride with a full-blown horror experience.

The teaser and promotional song released earlier had already received an encouraging response from audiences, raising anticipation for the trailer.

A press conference was organised on the occasion of the trailer launch, where the director, cast and technicians spoke about their experiences of working on the film.

Director Anupam Pattnaik, producer and actress Barsha Pattnaik, actresses Aurosikha Mishra and Dibya Mohanty, actors Sanoj and Samrat Mahapatra, and Navya Jaiti were present at the event.

According to the filmmakers, ‘Dahaan’ revolves around two sisters and unfolds against the backdrop of a full-fledged supernatural horror story. The team said the film attempts to present a different narrative and offer Odia audiences a horror experience that feels different from the usual fare.

Director Anupam Pattnaik, who has previously explored diverse subjects in Odia cinema, has often combined entertainment with social themes. His film ‘Pratikshya’ brought national recognition after winning a National Film Award, while his other films, including Trikanya, Karma and Mantramuugdha, have also showcased his versatility as a filmmaker.

With ‘Dahaan – The Evil Within’, the makers are now venturing into a genre, bringing a full-fledged horror film to the Odia screen.

The production team expressed confidence that the film’s distinct storyline and supernatural treatment will provide viewers with a fresh horror experience and leave a lasting impression.

The film is slated for a theatrical release during the Ganesh Puja festival.
