Bharati Nrutya Utsav held in Bhubaneswar; Guru Snehaprava Samantray & Guru Dhaneswar Swain felicitated among others

Bhubaneswar: ‘Bharati Nrutya Utsav’, organised by Bharati Nrutya Mandir,a premier Odissi dance institution in Bhubaneswar, established by Guru Bharat Charan Giri, was held at Bhanjakala Mandap in Bhubaneswar on November 30.

After the customary lighting the lamp ceremony, the guests of the evening including eminent lyricist Gourhari Dalai, foundar of Karanjia Sangita Mahavidyalaya, Tabla guru Karunakar Dash, nrutya guru and founder of ‘Nrutyanjali’, Puspa Ranjan Mangaraj, dancer and Guru Gouri Sankar Dash addressed the inaugural session as the distinguished guests.

Then the art lovers were treated with elaborated Odissi and folkdance performances by the dancers of Karanjia Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Aradhana Nrutya Mandir (Talcher and Bhubaneswar), National Sangeet Kala Parisad(Kandarpur,Cuttack) and Bharati Nrutya Mandir (Bhubaneswar).

The evening session was started at 6pm. Balikuda-Erasama MLA Sarada Prasanna Jena, eminent Odissi guru and Central Sangeeta Natak Academy awardee Durga Charan Ranbir graced the occasion as distinguished guests.On this occasion, Guru Dr Snehaprava Samantray and Mardala guru Dhaneswar Swain were awarded with ‘Bharati Ratna Samman’ and ‘Bharati Sangeeta Samman’ respectively. Similarly, ‘Bharati Nrutya Samman’ was presented to eminent Odissi dancer and Guru Smt. Sujata Mohapatra.

The guests also unveiled two books authored by Guru Bharat Charan Giri titled as ‘OdishiNrutya Visharad’(Odia) and ‘OdishiNrutya Prarambha’ (English).

The cultural evening witnessed some scintillating performances. The artistes of Bharati Nrutya Mandir presented a dance drama ‘SriRamalilamrutam’. Guru Smt. Sujata Mohapatra performed a solo Odishi dance. The cultural programme was concluded by group dances by the artistes of Bharati Nrutya Mandir and Adruta Dance Troupe.

The entire programme was compered by Dr Srinivas Ghatuari. The evening came to an end with Guru Bharat Charan Giri, founder general secretary of Bharati Nrutya Mandir delivering vote of thanks.
