Differently-abled artistes shine at ‘Grishma Utsav 2025’ in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a vibrant confluence of talent, determination, and artistic spirit, the ‘Grishma Utsav 2025’ musical programme was recently held at the Geetagovinda Sadan in Bhubaneswar.

The event was a testament to the unifying power of music and the triumph of spirit over limitations. Organized by the Shwetapadma Sangeetalaya Cultural Trust in collaboration with the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD), Government of Odisha, the evening struck a powerful chord with the audience.

The gathering was graced by an illustrious lineup of dignitaries including SSEPD Director Niyati Pattnaik, Namrata Chadha (Chairperson, Women’s Rights Campaign), SSEPD Deputy Secretary Basant Kumar Behera, Deeptimayee Mahapatra (Deputy Director, Department of Information and Public Relations), HoD of Surgery Department, Capital Hospital, Dr Pramod Kumar Samantray and eminent lyricist Goura Patnaik.

Under the expert baton of music composer Sitanshu Shekhar Raut, the evening opened on a soulful note with Biswanath Mallick rendering the evocative ‘Khusira Chhotia Phula Tie Tumo’, penned by Bishnupada Sethi.

The mood deepened as Alisha Choudhury took center stage with the melodious ‘Mo Tanu Latara Sakhare Sakhare’ by Brundaban Jena.

As the evening wore on, the stage came alive with heartfelt performances — Sarada Prasanna Rout’s emotive rendition of ‘Achihna Muhan Ti’ penned by Basant Das, followed by a captivating duet written by Biswajit and Alisha titled ‘Tume Bi Soina, Mun Bi Soini’, written by Dr. Tofan Jena.

Sandip Swain added another feather to the evening’s cap with his moving interpretation of Goura Pattnaik’s ‘Kahuthila Kichhi Kahibara Achhi’.

The audience remained spellbound as the singers continued to breathe life into the verses of eminent Odia poets. Adding a poetic touch to the musical affair, members of the renowned ‘Geeti Gangotri’ group took the stage to recite summer-themed poetry, earning rounds of applause for their stirring performances.

The entire programme was seamlessly anchored by Minati Malla, Chairperson of the Shwetapadma Sangeetalaya Cultural Trust, whose warm presence and eloquence kept the evening flowing without missing a beat.

With music as its soul and inclusivity at its heart, ‘Grishma Utsav 2025’ proved that talent knows no boundaries — and when given the spotlight, it shines the brightest.
