In remembrance of legendary Guru Debaprasad Das: Debasmruti festival-2023 held in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Tridhara, a pioneer organization which upholds the unique style of Guru Debaprasad Das, organized Debasmruti Festival 2023 (an evening of Odissi Dance) at Bhanja Kala Mandap, Bhubaneswar on May 30.

Ater the customary lighting the lamp ceremony by MLA of Bhubaneswar Central, Ananta Narayan Jena, MLA of Bhandaripokhari Prafulla Samal, film producer (Hemraj Films) Laxminarayan Agarwal, Tridhara’s working president Simanchala Panda and Tridhara’s director Guru Gajendra Panda, a garland of scintillating performances were presented.

The cultural evening kicked off with a Mangalacharan ‘Laxmi Nrusingha Dhyana’ presented by G. Nageswari, Prabhutosh, Dipika, Rithika, Vidhi, Mokshada, Rutuja and Anwesha.

The following item was an Odia Abhinaya ‘Manaudharana’, presented by Monalisha, Sushree, Muskaan and Priyadarshini.

The next item was ‘Kede Chanda Jane Lo Sahi’ presented by Sai Durga, Dibyashree, Saloni, Laxmipriya and Shivani. It was followed by ‘Dasavatar’, presented by Tanisha, Subhashree Pradhan, Disha, Subhashree Paikaray, Pratigyan, Sonakshi, Simran, Ankita and Priyanshi.

The next item was ‘Uthilu Ede Begi’ presented by Aradhya Pati, Siddiksha, Aradhya Priyadarsini, Sreejita and Aaradhya Lal. The following item was a duet Odissi dance ‘Ardhanariswar’, presented by Sanghamitra and Vidhi Next, Padmini Lal, Rithika, Mokshada, Sonakshi, Sushree and Muskaan came onto the stage to present a Ram Bhajan.

The concluding item of the evening was ‘Mokshyam’, presented by Prabhutosh, Rithika, Mokshada and Vidhi.

While all the items presented in the evening were choreographed by Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda, the dancers came to the expectations of the audience who enjoyed the evening till the last performance. The dancers’ fluid grace, immaculate body movements with amazing precision and charming gestures and postures during the dance mesmerized the audience.

The festival was supported by Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Government of Odisha.

Dr Mrityunjay Rath was the emcee of the evening.

The objective of organizing this festival is to showcase and promote of unique style (Gharana) of Late Guru Debaprasad Das in form of Odissi dance and also amalgamated a variety of tribal and folk dance elements with the traditional Odissi.
