Bhubaneswar: The rain-themed cultural evening ‘Mausumi Murchhana Tole’, organised by Shwetapadma Sangeetalaya Cultural Trust in collaboration with the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, was held at Geetagovinda Sadan on the evening of August 22.
The evening witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Additional Secretary of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department Deepak Rautaray, Director of Higher Secondary Education Smt. Niyati Pattnayak, senior journalist Pradyumna Satpathy, music and language scholar Dr. Kirtan Narayan Padhi, and Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Department Deeptimayee Mahapatra.
For this special monsoon evening, founder of the trust and renowned music director Guru Sitanshu Sekhar Rout composed tunes for lyrics written by eminent lyricists.
Odisha’s celebrated vocalists Debasish Mahapatra, Adyasha Das, Chhanda Mishra, Rudranarayan, Bidyadhar Satpathy, Rajeev, Tapaswini, Monalisa Mahapatra, Minati Bhanj, Jay Smita, Baishnavi, and Sandeep enthralled the audience with soulful rain-themed songs.
On the occasion, ‘Shwetapadma Samman 2025’ was conferred on four eminent personalities — Pandit Guru Gopal Chandra Panda (Odissi classical vocalist), Sacchi Mahanti (eminent lyricist), Chandrakant Ray (Producer, Doordarshan Kendra), and Dr. Satya Ranjan Patra (renowned orthopedic surgeon).
Earlier in the afternoon, members of Geetagangeotri Parivar presented rain-inspired poems in a special poetry recital session.
The event was jointly anchored by Trust chairperson Minati Malla and Kumar Likhan.
