Musical evening ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ held in Bhubaneswar evokes patriotism

Bhubaneswar: A feeling of patriotism on Monday pervaded the Rabindra Mandap auditorium in Bhubaneswar as the singers of Sushama Sangeet Sadan treated the audience with patriotic songs one better than another.

Sushama Sangeet Sadan, one of the premier music institutions in Odisha founded by eminent music director Laxmikant Palit, has been organising this evening of patriotic songs ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ since last 20 years.

After the customary lighting the lamp ceremony attended by guests like Padmabibhushan awardee sculptor Sudarshan Sahoo, BJP leader and social activist Jagannath Pradhan, former principal commissioner of Income Tax Department, Bhubaneswar Sarat Das, state general secretary of Bharatiya Siksha Vikas Sansthan Dr Karunakar Pradhan and vice presidents of Sushama Sangeet Sadan Dr Mitali Chinara and Aswini Mohanty, the musical evening got off to a fine start with a chorus.

The singers under the direction of Laxmikant Palit presented ‘Vande Maataram’.

Next, Randeep Palit, son of Laxmikant Palit, came onto the stage to present ‘Mera Rang De’. The next performer was Bandish Palit, another son of Laxmikant Palit, who stroke a chord with the audience by ‘Aye Mere Pyare Watan’.

The following performer was none other than Laxmikant Palit who sang ‘Utha Kankaala’, leaving the audience enthralled. Next, Asha Bahadur, a Divyang (visually impaired), transported the audience to a different world. She sang ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’.

Thereafter singers like Pranabjyoti Nath, Saswati Narayani, Aswini Mohanty, Nazia Alam, Rashmita, Sidhant Satpathy, Bidyutprava Palit, Mitali Chinara, Tanushree, Adyasha Das, Sidhisna and Arnab Panda came onto the stage one after another to entertain the music lovers with patriotic songs. At the end of their songs, they were given a big round of applause.
