Bhubaneswar: Rendo Majhi. The name may not ring a bell with many of us. But people in Kalahandi district revere him as a hero. In fact, he was a freedom fighter who was hanged till death by the Britishers.
Soon a film on this lesser known freedom fighter will hit screens. The first poster of this periodic film titled as RENDO MAJHI-THE HIDDEN STORY OF 1853 was released at a function organised at Mahaveer Sanskrutik Anusthan in Bhawanipatna.
Versatile actor Manoj Mishra has been signed to play the eponymous character. The film produced under the banner RB SP FILM’s PRODUCTIONS is said to be touching all aspects of the freedom fighter’s life, with hardly any alterations.
While Bibhu Prasad Rout is the producer of the film, young and dynamic Amaresh Jena, a man from Kalahandi district is directing it. Pankaj Jal is scoring music for the film.
Producer Rout and director Jena announced that the film will be bilingual, being made in Koshali and Hindi with actors from Western Odisha and Bollywood featuring in the film.
